Pathological conditions associated with human papillomavirus infection
High-risk human papillomavirus infection (HPV infection) is associated with several human cancers, such as cervical, vaginal, vulvar, head and neck, anal, and penile carcinomas. Despite available vaccination and screening programs, HPV-associated cancers are one of the most common types of cancer affecting the worldwide population. The aim of this research is to participate in the investigation of HPV-related carcinogenesis, finding novel biomarkers, developing diagnostic methods and evaluating possible screening algorithms for early disease detection, and surveillance of cancer patients to reveal the risk of future disease relapse.
About me
Researcher and doctoral student at the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine, Palacký University Olomouc, in the field of experimental and translational medicine. I´m a member of the Virology and molecular carcinogenesis research group. My research is mainly focused on HPV-associated human malignancies, such as cervical and oropharyngeal cancers. The aim of my research is to identify and validate novel diagnostic and predictive biomarkers for early detection of oropharyngeal cancer and post-treatment monitoring of disease recurrence. I am also interested in the implementation of a new possible screening program for early diagnosis of oropharyngeal cancer by liquid biopsies, such as oral gargle lavage.
